Anytime is a good time to visit New York State and New York City. Some people prefer the summer, when New York is at its brightest, greenest and busiest. There are also tourists who prefer the city during winter when the city is up in lights and when it is most festive. Tourists, however, who want to visit in New York in its quietest and when the hotel rates are cheapest can choose to visit the city on dates that precede National Holidays.
It may seem surprising for a lot of tourists to learn that NYC is quietest before Christmas. The city's tourism board, however, has confirmed that the least amount of tourists visit the city during this time.
Other times when NYC is at it's quietest include two weeks after New Year's day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day's weekend, President's Day weekend, three days before and after Independence Day, Rosh Hashanah, and Halloween.
