Anaheim is the second largest (in terms of land area) and second most populous city in Orange County, California. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country owing to the Disneyland Resort and other attractions such as The Grove of Anaheim, Pearson Park, Anaheim GardenWalk, Adventure City, and Anaheim Convention Center. Because of this, the city is also a popular venue for national conventions and sports events.
Anaheim was founded as a grape/wine-making area by Daniel Kraemer and other settlers from Franconia, Bavaria. In the 1880s, the grape industry was severely damaged by pests - the city turned to other crops: oranges, fruits, and vegetables. Bennett Payne Baxter, a landowner, helped develop the city into a thriving rural farming community until the opening of the Disneyland Resort which turned the city into a tourist haven.
The city is home to a diverse population of different races. It is also home to the Anaheim University and several schools under its 8 public school districts. Aggravated assault and robbery are Anaheim's highest violent crimes but the total number of reported incidents is lower than the average. In fact, this is one of the safest cities in the country.
