Annapolis is the capital of Maryland, USA and the county of Anne Arundel. It is situated on the mouth of Severn River on the Chesapeake Bay. Historically, it was once the country's capital - in 1783 to 1784. The city was founded in 1649 and was later incorporated in 1708. It has a land area of 19.7 km2 and water area of 2.3 km2.
The climate in Annapolis is comprised of moderate temperatures: cool summers, warm winters. The city was once connected to the rest of America by railroads which were later dismantled leaving the city with absolutely no rail transport - the only capital of America to have such a situation.
Due to its long history, Annapolis is home to several historic attractions that include the Maryland State House which is the longest of its kind being used for continuous service in the country. Other attractions include the Banneker-Douglass Museum, Hammond-Harwood House, and the Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley memorial which commemorates Kunta Kinte's (African ancestor of Alex Haley) arrival.
