Avon is a town located in Eagle County, in the state of Colorado, United States of America. With a population of 5,561, the community is predominantly white. The town serves as the gateway for the popular Beaver Creek Resort, which is located just three kilometers away from Avon. Initially listed as a railroad station by William L. Swift in 1889, the town's name was spelled "Avin." It was later changed to "Avon" and was incorporated in 1978.
Avon does not have an airport facility in its area, so that passengers must use the two nearest air transport facilities, the Eagle County Airport which is located 43 kilometers west of the town, or the Denver International Airport, which is situated 210 kilometers further east.
Nonetheless, the town compensates for this dilemma by offering free public transportation to its inhabitants with four bus routes.
It lists Lech am Arlberg in Austria as its sister city.
