About Baltimore, MD
Baltimore, Maryland is the city that it is today because its location on the banks of Chesapeake Bay. Lovingly referred to as the' charmed city,' Baltimore has a thriving marina community and an even larger city center that started its expansion when tracks connecting Baltimore to other cities were laid down in 1829.

The city is a city of celebrations, from the Flowermart Festival in May to the city's entertainment hubs that come alive with a burst of colors and music as soon as the sun sets. The city is one good example of a 'comeback town', transforming from a city of steel mills and car factories into a modern metropolis known for its health care and education programs. Baltimore has gone from an industrial city into a diverse metropolis of stunning skyscrapers and modern buildings and well-preserved architectural treasures of bygone eras, a testament to the city's reverence for its past.

Baltimore is credited for undertaking one of the most ambitious renewal efforts by a US state. Spearheaded by William Schaefer who served as the city mayor from 1971 to 1986, the city underwent a massive face-lift started with the construction of the Inner Harbor Project, along with the National Aquarium and the Maryland Science Center.

Today Baltimore is known as a center for culture and the arts. It is the seat of Johns Hopkins University and the Peabody Conservatory of Music. Keeping true to its historical past, significant monuments and locations such as Mount Vernon Place and the Edgar Allan Poe House are just some of the many historical relics that the city takes pride in.
