About Bermuda
Bermuda, formerly known as Somers Isles is a British overseas territory in the North Atlantic Ocean. It is the oldest and most populous remaining British overseas territory since it was settled by England a century before the creation of the United Kingdom of Great Britain. St. George's is the country's first capital.

Bermuda is considered an archipelago consisting of seven main islands and with many smaller islands as well as islets. Bermuda was first discovered by a Spanish Explorer named Juan de Bermudez in 1503. Bermuda was first settled in 1609 when English colonists headed for Virginia became shipwrecked on the island. In 1920, Bermuda became a self-governing colony after a representative government was introduced to the country. Tourism in Bermuda began in Victorian times when people made an escape from North American winters.

Bermuda is home to 67,837 residents. Bermuda boasts of its subtropical climate, pink sand beaches and cerulean blue ocean waters. It prides itself of having a highly affluent economy. In fact, it is considered the third highest per capita income in the world with an economy fueled by providing financial services for international business and luxury facilities for tourists.
