Biloxi is a city located in Harrison County of Mississippi, USA. It is referred to by locals as the Buck City. Although the city became part of the United States of America in 1817, the city remains highly inclined to French culture. With its waters and close proximity to New Orleans, the city quickly became a summer destination city where rich figures owned summer homes and tourists rented cottages and hotels during the summer season.
Biloxi is known to have one of the two survivors of the original 12 lighthouses of Mississippi. The city later became a tourist haven with the addition of casinos, hotels, and popular landmarks. Famous casinos include the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Imperial Palace, Beau Rivage Casino Resort, and President Casino Broadwater Resort. The city is a popular setting of some novels, books, movies, and television shows.
Although about 90% of the city's infrastructures had been damaged by Hurricane Katrina, a lot have been restored and have already re-opened for business. The city also converted a lot of standing dead trees from the disaster into beautiful sculptures through the efforts of some public officials and artists Dayton Scoggins and Martin Miller.
