
Black Hawk is a historic city located in the Gilpin County in the US state of Colorado. As of a 2000 census, the city had a population of 118 making it the least populated city in Colorado and one of the least in the entire United States. During the Pike's Gold Rush in the 19th century, the city was served as a mining settlement and was founded in 1859.
Together with Central City, Black Hawk makes up the federally designated district of Black Hawk and Central City National Historic District. These areas flourished in the 19th century after mills were constructed and railroad access was provided to the area.
Attractions in Black Hawk include several casinos and despite its size, Black Hawk is known to have more casinos than Atlantic City in New Jersey. Some of the casinos in Black Hawk include the Ameristar Casino and Black Hawk Station. Lace House, which was built in the 1860s and known for its architecture is now a museum.
