About Branson
Branson is a city in the US state of Missouri and part of the Stone and Taney counties. Branson is home to 6,050 residents as of the 2000 census and is a popular tourist destination for vacationers from Missouri and surrounding states.

Branson's history dates back from humble beginnings. The city was named after Reuben Branson, postmaster and operator of a general store in the area in the 1880s. Branson's general store and post office was listed as Branson, Missouri. The city's entertainment center known as the Strip was first inhabited by the Presley family when they opened up the first theater on the Strip. Soon, many other theaters followed and Branson was then known for its many theatrical productions.

Branson is home to 50 theaters and music venues with more than 100 live performances daily attracting more than seven million visitors each year. The city's entertainment center, the Strip, is nicknamed the "Ozark Disneyland" and is lined with shopping complexes, restaurants, museums and hotels. Branson also boasts of its three beautiful lakes and twelve championship golf courses.
