About Buffalo
Buffalo, the second largest city in New York, USA, is the seat of Erie County. It has several nicknames: "Queen City of the Lakes", "City of Light", "The City of Good Neighbors", "City of Trees", "The Queen City", and the "City of Nickel". In spite of these many names, the origin of the name "Buffalo" could not be determined. Of course, there are several versions as to why the city was named as such: 1) "Buffalo" came from "beau fleuve" which means "beautiful river" in Spanish and 2) a picnic where stolen horsemeat was thought to be bison meat occurred in the area.

Buffalo is a highly industrialized city with a racial makeup mostly comprised of Whites with around 13% African Americans, and other races that include Asians, Native Americans, and Hispanics. Several schools serve the city with standards set high by the Education Department.

Points of interest in Buffalo include the Lafayette Square, Delaware Park, Erie County Hall, Asbury Delaware Church, and the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens.
