About Cape Town
Cape Town is the second most populated city in South Africa. However, due to its size, it has a comparatively lower population density than other cities in the country. It serves as the capital of the Western Cape and is the legislative capital of South Africa. Aside from its cultural and political prominence, Cape Town is also one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country.

Located on the shores of picturesque Table Bay, Cape Town was first established by the Dutch East India Trading Company. It served as a port and a supply station for ships and expeditions sailing to the eastern part of Africa, the Far East, and India. The 17th century saw the first European settlers arrive in South Africa. After that, the city rapidly grew and became the economic and cultural center of the Cape colony until the development of Johannesburg.

Today, the city is well known for it naturally beautiful surroundings that attract millions of tourists to it each year. Some of the city's most famous landmarks include Cape Point and Table Mountain. Cape Town harbor is also a popular destination in the city. At present, Cape Town's economic output mainly comes from manufacturing, its ports, and tourism. The city is also set to host the 2010 FIFA World Cup that will run from June 11 to July 11.
