About City of Industry
City of Industry or Industry is a city in San Gabriel Valley part of Los Angeles County, California. It is a suburb of LA with a population of 777 in the 2000 census. It was incorporated in June 1957, to prevent the nearby cities from annexing industrial land for tax income.

The city has more than 2,200 businesses which employ more than 80,000 people. It has no business taxes and is primarily funded through retail sales tax from shopping centers located within the city limits. It is a Foreign Trade Zone, a business-friendly zone that exists inside the United States, but it is excluded in the U.S. Customs territory.

Some prominent companies that are found in the city are Hot Topic, Newegg.com, Emtek Products, and Engineering Model Associates. Several Chinese entrepreneurs also invest in the city, with this it became a high-tech import and export center for computer parts, with business links to the Asian market.

The City of Industry is the home of Homestead Museum, a historic house museum that features a house and private cemetery that is owned by the first generation Workman-Temple family, and the Puente Hills Mall, the major shopping center that was shown as the "Twin Pines Mall" in the Back to the Future movie series.
