About Coconut Grove
Coconut Grove is located in Miami, Florida and has been dubbed many colorful names including "Miami's tropical soul" and a "village with a rhythm all its own". Coconut Grove has much to offer to both local residents and visitors. The city itself can take anyone's breath away with its natural beauty. Coconut Grove is a lush green landscape bordered by the shimmering waters of Biscayne Bay. As of 2000, the population of Coconut Grove is 18,953.

Coconut Grove was established by several waves of immigration. The first was in 1825 together with the start of operation of the Cape Florida lighthouse, manned by John Dubose. The city's post office was established in 1873, its first black settlement established in the 1880s, and its first hotel in 1882. Coconut Grove was formerly an independent city but was later on annexed by the city of Miami in 1925.

Coconut Grove, fondly called "The Grove" for short, is known as Miami's food court due to its many and varied restaurants. The Biscayne Bay, which boarders the Grove in the east, lends itself to a boating community and features a sailing club as well as a marina. The Grove is world-renowned for its annual art festival but other festivals garner recognition as well such as the King Mango Strut and the Goombay Festival. The beauty of Coconut Grove has inspired many literary authors and music artists the likes of Robert Frost, Alexander Graham Bell, Joni Mitchell, David Crosby and many more.
