About Collingwood
In 1858, Collingwood was assimilated as a town years ago before Confederation and was named after the Admiral Lord Cuthbert. European settlers brought with their religion and culture. The area had several associations including Hurontario because it lies at the end of Hurontario Street which runs from Lake Huron.

Collingwood's industrial base includes Collingwood ethanol L.P, Pilkington Glass of Canada, Alcoa Wheel Products, and Goodall Rubber Company that were considered as community's largest employers. Collingwood put more attention on establishing itself as a four season tourist area. In 1981, Collingwood has been home to the Thomson Tennis School.

Barrie-Collingwood Railway is a short line railway operation involving a partnership in the City of Barrie. In 2007, the town of Collingwood started a public transportation. In addition, Collingwood also served by Collingwood Airport. It is a medium sized airport located along the south of the town. Other manufacturing companies are doing their best to make Collingwood as the largest industrial employer in the region.
