Coronado is a city in San Diego, California. It is nicknamed as the "The Crown City" after the Spanish translation of "Coronado", "the crowned one". Although the city is quite small with a land area of 84.6 km2, it has an uptown-quality social environment and is considered to be among the most expensive residential areas in the county and California.

Because Coronado is a peninsula, locals often refer to it as "The Island" and the younger generation calls it "The Rock" while the strip of land that connects it to the main island is commonly referred to as the "Silver Strand". Due to its close proximity to the water, attractions in the city include beach and bay resorts along the Ocean Boulevard and the Silver Strand.

Coronado relies heavily on the tourism industry for its economy - with three famous resorts gracing the city. Several establishments and restaurants comprise the downtown area where a large variety of cuisines are available. Aside from the resorts, the city is also well known for its annual flower festival called the Coronado Flower Show held in April. The city also hosts competitive sports festivals annually.
