Costa Mesa is situated in Orange County, California. This city was incorporated in 1953. At first, it was a semi rural framing community with a population of 16,840 but later on has grown to become a suburban city with a larger population fir 108,724. Costa Mesa's means of livelihood is based on commerce, retail and light manufacturing.
Costa Mesa was once known as Harper a town named after a local rancher and who prospered on its agricultural goods. Finally on May 11, 1920, Harper was replaced by Costa Mesa, which means in Spanish table land coast.
During and after World War II, there is a great rise in the population of Costa Mesa. This is because thousands were trained at the Santa Ana Army Air Base and after the war, they returned to Costa Mesa with their families. With these developments the population is around five times higher than it used to be before the war.
