Davenport is a city located in the eastern part of Iowa, USA. It is the center of economic and trade in the region, being the seat of Scott County.
Included as one of the Quad Cities, along with Bettendorf (Iowa), Rock Island and Moline (Illinois), Davenport serves as a significant point where commercial, manufacturing, and transportation are considered important industries in the region of the mid- Mississippi valley.
The city is named after Colonel George Davenport, one of the community's founders. It was incorporated as a city in 1839.
Tourists in the city will have a great time in downtown Davenport, with the Davenport Public Library, the Davenport Skybridge, Figge Art Museum, River Music Experience, Putnam Museum and IMAX Theater, the Modern Woodmen Park, and the Centennial Bridge.
The city also serves as the home of the first ever chiropractic school in the world, the Palmer College of Chiropractic, established in 1897.
