Desert Hot Springs or DHS is a city in Coachella Valley, Riverside County, California, United States.
In 1913 it was said that Cabot Yerxa, is the discoverer of hot water on Miracle Hill. This is mainly caused by its structure since the San Andreas Fault is goes through the hill thus making each side a hot and cold area. More of the city's history can be traced by visiting the Cabot's Pueblo Museum. By last year, in 2008, Cabot's Trading Post & Gallery was open to the public.
Geologically unique is the presence and abundance of the finest natural hot mineral water aquifers in America. Local tourism industry bloomed due to this features, since visitors and celebrities alike can enjoy various spas brought by mineral waters with relaxing heat bubbling straight from the earth's core. Gaining popularity is also this city's pristine and tasty drinking water.
During the 1950s to 1960s, 80 spa hotels, thus the term "spa-tels" abound in this area. One of the famous old spas is the Two Bunch Palms. Other spas include The Miracle Springs Resort and Spa and The Spring Resort and Spa as well as those ranked as "Best Hidden Gem" spas namely El Morocco Inn and Spa and the Living Waters Spa by 2008. Currently in 2009, Sagewater Spa, and the Living Waters Spa are fast in gaining popularity among tourists.
