About Elizabeth
Elizabeth is a city in Union Country, New Jersey. It is considered as the state's fourth largest city by population. Elizabeth was named by the Popular Science magazine as one of America's 50 Greenest Cities in 2008. Elizabeth was the only city from the state of New Jersey to be selected for the prestigious list.

Elizabeth was named for the wife of one of the English settles in 1664. It was originally referred to as Elizabethtown and was the first capital of the state. Elizabeth is home to several historical landmarks. These landmarks include the Art Deco Hersh Tower, the First Presbyterian Church, St. John's Episcopal Church and the City Hall building. All of these notable landmarks are located in the midtown area of the city.

Elizabeth houses the biggest outlet mall in the state of New Jersey. The mall is called the Jersey Gardens and features a large arcade and play section, 20 movie screens and several chairs and couches where shoppers can relax. A historical theater in the city, the Ritz Theater is located in the midtown area of the city. Ritz Theater has been in use since 1926.
