Elk Grove Village is located in northeastern Illinois. It sits adjacent to the O'Hare National Airport and to Chicago city. As of the 2000 US Census, Elk Grove Village is estimated to have a population of around 34,727 people. The town's name stems from the fact that a small herd of Elk is kept in a grove at the eastern edge of the Busse Woods Forest preserve.
Elk Grove Village is notable for being home to the largest consolidated business parks in the US. It is estimated that over 3,800 business establishments are located at the 5.4 sq. mile business park that sits adjacent to the O'Hare International Airport.
It is also the home of the Alexian Brother's Medical Center. It was constructed in 1966 and is the largest employer in the area. Several well known corporations like the American Academy of Pediatrics, Apple Vacations, Pepsi Cola Distribution, and Illinois Tool Works are headquartered in Elk Grove Village.
