Englewood city is located in Bergen County, New Jersey, USA. According to the United States Census Bureau, it has a total land area of approximately 12.7 square kilometers.
In history, it was named because it was the first English-speaking community in New Jersey. Before the European colonization most of the state of New Jersey was first inhabited by Lenni-Lenapi Native Americans. Eventually, The Lenapes had been displaced further west by the pressures of urban development. Before its inception in 1871, the village of Englewood was part of Hackensack Township.
Today, Englewood is a sophisticated city which combines much of its historic grace and beauty with a thrilling cosmopolitan ambiance. Its closeness to New York City continues to be its major feature, but the town has also a unique character acquired from its richly heterogeneous backgrounds, interests and talents of its citizens.
Furthermore, one of the cities main attractions is the Flat Rock Nature Center, 150 acres of well-preserved native woodlands. It is also the natural sanctuary and home to a numerous species of plants and animals.
