Erie is known as the industrial city along the shore of Lake Erie in the northwestern corner of the U.S state of Pennsylvania. It is name for the lake and the Native American tribe that live along its southern shore. Erie is regarded as the fourth largest city with a total population of 104,000.

Erie's metropolitan area is composed of 280, 000 residents and an urbanized area population of approximately 195,000.The city is considered as the seat of government for Erie Country. It is known for its lake effect snow.

Eire has begun to focus on tourism as a driving force in its economy. Annually, more than four million people visit Presque Isle State Park for water recreation and a new casino named for the state park in growing popularity. It is known as the Flagship City because of the presence of Oliver Hazard's Perry flagship Niagara. And because of the sparkling lake, it is has been called as the Gem City.
