Fairbanks is one of the cities in Alaska, United States and is named the "Golden Heart City." It is the largest city within Alaska's Interior region, making it the second largest city in the state after Anchorage. It is also the home of the oldest college Alaska has, the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Fairbanks was discovered by Captain E.T. Barnette in August of 1901. The city is situated in the Fairbanks Recording District, at the heart of the Interior region of Alaska. Its name is taken from the then Indiana senator, Charles W. Fairbank's family name.
