
Fish camp is located south of the entrance to Yosemite National Park and north of the town of Oakhurst, California. It is described as a small unincorporated community situated on Highway 41 in California and is the site of a heritage tourist line, the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad. As of the 2000 census, the population of Fish Camp totaled 2,878 which indicate that the community is a scarcely populated region.
The major economic drivers of the community include several small scale and medium scale industries. Although Fish Camp is small and less populated, several big time industrial developments were created in this community such as the first ever 3D adventure game and the first online gaming networks, popularly known as The Sierra Network. The climate the community experiences are that of colder winters and hotter summers. A wide range of temperature fluctuations occur throughout the year.
When visiting Fish Camp, one of the most memorable tourist attractions is the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad where trains where visitors can ride the rails in a log. The train cars are fashioned out of real logs to hold passengers. There are many special railroad rides hosted by this railroad including a one hour ride over the tracks that was once used for logging trains earlier in history. There is also a Moonlight Special which includes a railroad ride, a barbeque dinner and a possible hold-up by masked horsemen looking for valuables.
