Flushing is situated in the north central part of New York borough of Queens and ten miles of Manhattan. It is part of the Fifth Congressional District and Queens Community Board. It extends up to the neighboring of Nassau country.

Flushing is one the biggest suburbs of New York City and is among the Dutch Settlements on Long Island. Different Ethnic groups resides in Flushing, amongst them are Asian, European, Hispanic and African American ancestry.

Flushing is considered to be a very religious community with over 200 places of worship and is considered a model for religious pluralism. When it comes to education, there are quite a number of public Elementary and Junior high school and students go to the school based on location of their homes. The public schools in flushing are under the supervision of the Department of Education of New York City.

Flushing has five railroad stations. This neighborhood is founded in 1645.
