Fort Collins is a relatively large college town located along Cache La Poudre River within the Colorado Front Range. It is considered as the most populated city in Lardimer County of Colorado, United States. All over the Colorado state, Fort Collins ranks as the fifth most populated city, and was named the Best Place to Live 2006 by Money magazine.
As what the city's name suggests, Fort Collins started off as an outpost for the United States Army around 1864. Before it became the outpost that it was, it was an encampment that was called Camp Collins. It was the time of the Indian wars that the said encampment was created as a means of protection for the mail route that was relocated all over the region. Those who were travelling would travel through the Overland Trail, and would feel safe camping there. Unfortunately, the camp was destroyed by a flood during 1864.
Fort Collins is education centers on the students that populate Colorado State University. As a result, the local music circuit, shopping districts and other youth-oriented business has flourished within the city. Not only does the city have Colorado State University, but it also has other college options for students within as well as outside of the city.
