About Fort Walton Beach
Fort Walton Beach is a city in Florida, southern Okaloosa Country, United States. It has a population of 19,992 recorded by the U.S Census Bureau in 2004. It is the principal city of the Fort Walton Beach. It is a year round fishing beach resort community and the busiest time is during summer.

It is also busy during spring break when people flock to the Emerald Cost. Fort Walton Beach was established by the early settlers of Walton Country Florida. John Anderson is one of the settlers who received land plots in 1838.

The name of the country is derived from Col. George Walton who served as an aid under Andrew Jackson and his father George Walton, Sr; the result of Col. Walton's influence in the politics of northwest Florida was honored by establishing Walton Country. In the Indian Temple Mound, the1st Florida regiments cam was located which is known as the Heritage Park and Cultural center. They have a mission to protect 'Narrows' from Union ships. On June 16, 1942, Fort Walton was assimilated by a State Senate bill. The community was then officially changed from Fort Walton to Fort Walton Beach on June 15, 1953.
