About Galveston
Galveston is a city in Texas. It was originally called as Auia by its first inhabitants then as the Isle of Doom by Cabeza de Vaca who was shipwrecked near the island. It is a city well known for its historic attractions, festivals, and for having the second largest population in Galveston County. It is also known for experiencing the deadliest natural disaster in the history of America due to a very devastating hurricane.

Among the attractions of Galveston include the Lone Star Flight Museum, Moody Gardens Botanical Park, The Strand (historic buildings), and home to the Balinese Room. Annual festivals such as the Mardi Gras, Texas Beach Fest, Lone Star Motor Rally, Christmas Festivals, and others are held in the city.

Various infrastructures have been built in Galveston over time; however, due to several hurricanes and other natural disasters that passed the city, a lot of them had been destroyed, rebuilt, then destroyed, and rebuilt once again. A ten-mile long, seventeen-foot high seawall was constructed to protect the city from future hurricane surge and floods.
