Geneva is a city that is located in both the counties Seneca and Ontario. Although generally taking space in two counties, Geneva still falls under the same state, which is New York. The city once was the site of the Senecan (Native Americans) village called Kanadasaga. Many theories have risen as to where Geneva got its name from. Some people swear that there was a slight mistake of reading the word "Seneca" when written in script. Others, however, believe it was taken from Geneva, a city in Switzerland.
Despite the fact that the Ontario portion of Geneva makes up most of the city, most people have a feeling that Geneva is a huge part of Seneca. One of the interesting things about the city is that it calls itself the "Lake Trout Capital of the World."
Geneva lies at the northern part of the Seneca Lake and boasts of being the biggest area that produces win within the New York State. With regards to education, Geneva has some local public primary schools as well as some secondary public schools although not all are public schools.
