
Goa is India's smallest state in terms of land area and the fourth smallest in terms of population. It is located on the west coast of India in the region known as the Konkan. The capital is Panaji. Vasco d agama is the largest city.
The name Goa is derived from European languages of the Portuguese. The Portuguese were the first people to settle in as Goas' merchants in the early 16th century. The state of Goa is known for its beaches, places of worship and world heritage architecture. The place is visited by hundred of thousands of international and domestic tourist annually. It is also rich in flora and fauna.
In geography and climate, Goa encompasses and area of 3, 702 km2. Goa is experiencing tropical zones and is near the Arabian Sea, has a hot and humid climate for most of the year. The month of May is the hottest with a temperature of 35 °C coupled with high humidity. During early June, Monsoon rain takes places and provides a much needed respite from the heat.
