About Grand Canyon
The Grand Canyon is one of the major attractions the United States has to offer. It is also one of the reasons why many people travel around the world and visit the United States. It is actually nature's work of art being a gorge which has been shaped by the hands of the Colorado River. Located in Arizona, United States, the Grand Canyon makes up one of the country's first national parks, the Grand Canyon National Park.

History has it that former president Theodore Roosevelt had played a major part during the preservation of the gorge, and was even a frequent visitor to the area for enjoyment.

According to scientists, the Grand Canyon did not happen overnight or for just a couple of years. In fact, the beauty of the canyon is said to have been formed over a whopping six million years - and growing. Measuring 446 km long, and 6.4 to 28 km wide, the Grand Canyon has recorded almost two billion years of geological history of the Earth. Layers of rock have been studied during the uplifting of the Colorado Plateau, and scientists have come up with the fact that the canyon started from the west and then the other end started on the east, meeting each other in the middle, forming the beauty it is today.
