
Henderson is a city located in Clark County in the US state of Nevada. It is located adjacent to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Area. The second largest city in Nevada, Henderson is estimated to have a population of around 249,386 as of 2007. It is considered to be one of the fastest growing cities in the United States and currently ranks as the 73rd largest city in the country. The city was founded in 1953 and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2003.
The city is served by a network of buses called the Citizens Area Transit or CAT. CAT's routes run through the Las Vegas Valley. Four major highways serve Henderson these include Boulder Highway and Lake Meade Parkway. By air, the city can be accessed from the McCarran International Airport.
In 2007, the city was named as the 6th best walking cities in the United States. It ranked just behind Seattle and Washington and ahead of San Diego and California. In 2006, the city was ranked as 20th best place to live in the US by Money Magazine and it was also on the top 10 list of the most boring cities in the United States by Forbes.
Being close to Las Vegas, Henderson has been frequently featured in film and television. Perhaps the most prolific of all of this is "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation". The now theme park 'Old Vegas', which was located in Henderson has been featured in several films including the Elvis Presley Film 'Viva Las Vegas'.
