Hilton Head Island, or simply called Hilton Head, is a town located in Beaufort County of South Carolina, United States. It is situated in between Charleston and Savannah, Georgia. It is an island that faces the Atlantic Ocean, and is a popular destination for a lot of tourists or vacationers. One of the biggest sources of the town's income is the visitors, and statistics show that even in 2004 alone, 2.25 million visitors have been the source of $1.5 billion income of the town's economy.
Aside from its great appeal, the town's rich history has been one of the treats that visitors get when they visit the town. It is a fact that Native Americans were the first to inhabit the island, after which the Europeans as well as the Sea Island Cotton trade have influenced the way people reside in Hilton Head.
Although the area and the community are relatively low, the number of cultural activities the town has to offer is interestingly high. In fact, they have showcased plays that can rival the quality of Broadway, and the Hilton Head Choral Society is a group that is not to be underestimated. Although quaint, Hilton Head does have its charm and appeal which gives tourists a reason to go back again and again.
