Huatulco is a tourist development located in Mexico. Its name literally means the "place where wood is adored". Although a tourist area, it is not heavily flocked by tourists so that the area remains tranquil and quiet. It is called the Bahías de Huatulco or Bays of Huatulco due to the nine bays in the area; however, the name was shortened to Huatulco.
Because Huatulco experiences 330 days of sunshine, it is the perfect haven for tourists who come to the area for sightseeing or surfing the beaches or visiting the resort areas. Development in the area is often eco-friendly so that there are green zones among the roadways and infrastructures.
Points of attraction in Huatulco include some coffee plantations - Finca La Gloria, Finca Monte Carlos, Finca Las Nievas, Finca El Pacifico, and Finca Margaritas (where "finca" means "farm") - various resorts, surf beaches - Playa El Mojon and (Playa) Barra dela Cruz - and the Parque Nacional (or National Park). Because air access to the area in limited, only 20% of tourists in Huatulco are foreign.
