Idaho Falls is the largest city, and the county seat, of Bonneville County of Idaho, United States. It remains the principal city of the Idaho Metropolitan Statistical Area, and is considered as the third largest metropolitan area within the state.
Idaho Falls was previously the site of Taylor's Crossing. The latter is a bridge that was created across Snake River, and was constructed by Matt Taylor. The bridge was instrumental in allowing westward migration to increase, plus the security provided for those who travelled in the region greatly improved travelling for settlers, miners, and the like. By and by, buildings such as a hotel, a bank, a livery stable, and an eating house were constructed close to the bridge. After constant improvement, a stage station and mail service was added into the growing town's assets.
Today, Idaho Falls has become a hub for travel and business as well as health care. The community is still generally agricultural and since new a National Reactor Testing Station was opened in the nearby desert, many have availed of high-income jobs from the said station. However, there have been improvement on that area as call centers, entertainment sectors, and retail sectors have been slowly introduced into the city.
