About Indianapolis
Indianapolis is the capital city of Indiana, United States. It is also known as the county seat of Marion County in the said state. Being the third largest city in the area, it is also the second most populated state capital in the Midwest.

Before the current settlers arrived at Indianapolis, Native Americans lived in the area until they were removed around the 1820s. Right around that time, Indianapolis was selected to be the location of the new capital. In fact, it is the only state capital which is situated at the exact center of its state. The city's name "Indianapolis" can be attributed to Jeremiah Sullivan, an Indiana Supreme Court judge, who simply invented the name by adding -polis (Greek for city) to the state's name, Indiana. Therefore, Indianapolis literally means "Indiana City".

It was only in 1888 that Indianapolis started the construction of high rise buildings. The first landmark to be constructed is the Solders' and Sailors' Monument, which was completed during the same year. However, despite moves to improve development, little construction was made around 1970s due to decreased economic activity. However, improvement has been initialized by the government and changes can be seen thorough skyscrapers and other obvious changes as of date.
