Islamorada which means "Purple Island" is a "village of islands" composed of six islands namely Plantation Key, Windley Key, Upper Metecumbe Key, Lower Metecumbe Key, Indian Key, and Lignumvitae Key. It is an incorporated village located in Monroe County, Florida.
Islamorada is the home of the Florida National High Adventure Sea Base of the Boy Scout of America.
Islamorada is said to be "The Sport Fishing Capital of the World". It is also a haven for divers and snorkelers, so is its History of Diving Museum. Evenings with music can be spent at the lawn of TIB Amphitheater at the Founder's Park. First rate productions are also held at the Coral Shores Performing Arts Center. There is the Robbie's Marina that sells buckets of baits for feeding tarpon swarms at the docks. The Theater of the Sea Marine Mammal Park enables guests to swim with the dolphins and other creatures. There are also the popular scrumptious cuisines of fresh seafood available at all tiki bars, dockside fish houses, beachfront cafes and bistros. Shopping can also be done at the numerous boutiques and shops at the area.
