Johannesburg is known as the largest city in all of South Africa and is known by many names such as Joburg, Jozi, Egoli or City of Gold, Gauteng or Place of Gold, Maboneng or City of Lights, Africa's Greatest City, and Joni. The city bases its life on their motto: "Unity in Development."

Johannesburg is one of the top 40 largest metropolitan areas all over the world. In fact, it is one of two of Africa's global cities. However, Johannesburg is not one of the capital cities of South Africa, it boasts of being the location of the highest court Africa has - Constitutional Court.

The city is known for being a part of South Africa's richest province, Gauteng. In fact, Johannesburg is a huge source of diamond and large-scale god trade. This is mainly attributed to the fact that the city is located on a range of hills that has been discovered to be greatly mineral-rich.

Throughout the years, Johannesburg has seen many developments towards urbanization. The city's rich culture is very much evident through the said process and change. With its huge population and development, Johannesburg is easily one of the richest cities in the world.
