About Juneau
Juneau is a popular municipality in the Alaskan state of the United States. Apart from "Juneau" it is also known by its complete name of "City and Borough of Juneau". Situated on the Gastineau Channel in Alaska, it was named as the capital of Alaska since 1906. During the said year, the government was moved from Sitka. However, it was only unified with Douglas City in 1970.

The municipality was originally named "Harrisburg" after Richard Harris. After some time, it was renamed into "Rockwell"; however, it was changed again in 1881. That was the year the miners met and had the name changed once more into Juneau.

With regards to culture, arts and entertainment, Juneau is the home of the Perseverance Theatre, which is the only professional theater in all of Alaska. Every year, the theater plays host to the Alaska Folk Festival as well as the Juneau Jazz and Classics music festival. It also helps that the municipality has two local opera companies: Juneau Lyric Opera and Opera to Go, to help boost the flavor of culture within Juneau.

It is no wonder that despite its size, Juneau is able to make its mark in the world. In the process, it has merits of great tourism and economy.
