It is known by several nicknames including the Conch Republic and the Southernmost City in the Continental United States. The city encompasses the Island of Key West as well as part of the Stock Island. Being the southernmost city in the continental United States, Key West is the terminus of State Road A1A, U.S. 1, and the East Coast Greenway. The city also has a bustling port and is a popular docking destination for cruise ships. 'One Human Family' is the official motto of Key West.
Important to the Navy, the city is the location of the Naval Air Station Key West, which is an important year round training site for naval aviation. The city is serviced by the Key West International Airport as well as land transit systems. It has several Key landmarks that draw tourism all year round; these landmarks include Fort Zachary Taylor and the buildings of Old Town Key West.
