Kitchener is a city that is located somewhere in southwestern part of Ontario, Canada. It was first called the Town of Berlin during 1854, and then renamed to City of Berlin in 1912, until it was changed again in 1916. The city is known for being at the seat of the Waterloo Regional Municipality. Adjacent to the city are small cities including Waterloo and Cambridge. As a result of being close to these smaller cities, Kitchener is often referred to as Kitchener-Waterloo, despite the fact that they do have different governing municipalities. If Cambridge is included, then they are referred to as "tri-cities."
Kitchener boasts of a climatic region that has deciduous forests and wet-climate soils. A dominant glacial feature in Kitchener is the presence of Waterloo Moraine. This is known as the region where a huge number of artesian wells are found where the city also gets most of its water used for drinking. Interestingly, Kitchener was first called "Sandhills", which would be suit the city exactly due to the higher points of the moraine.
