About Knoxville
Started in 1786, the third-largest city in Tennessee is Knoxville and known as the parish seat of Knox County is home of around 173,890 citizens by 2000. It is also the principal city of the "Knoxville Metropolitan Statistical Area".

The state of Tennessee's has four major cities and it is Knoxville that is the second oldest to Nashville. In honor of the veteran and first Secretary of War, Henry Knox, Knoxville's name got established.

Businesses before especially the textile and clothing industry are big hits making Knoxville as the Underwear Capital of the World. But it was in the 1950s, the mills started to make a downturn thus causing a population loss of about 10%.

Schools found here include the University of Tennessee's primary campus and their popular team "Volunteers" or "Vols". Fans of basketball can view the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in this city.

Knoxville climate is humid subtropical but triple digit temperatures in Knoxville do not occur much.
