Lakeland is a city located in the state of Florida in the United States. It can be found in Polk County, which is between Tampa and Orlando. The population of the city numbers up to 89,108 with a racial makeup dominated by Caucasians. However, the community is mixed with African-Americans, Latinos, Asians, Native Americans and Pacific Islanders. The rapid growth in the population makes analysts conclude that by year 2020, the city will expect the statistics to grow to as much as 115,000 residents.
People are drawn to Lakeland because of the fun and leisurely atmosphere that it imbibes, as it is sponsors most of the recreational programs in Polk County. With 45 parks and several playgrounds in within the area, it is no surprise that visitors come each year, and some never ever leave.
The Sun' n Fun EAA Fly-In, for example, which is the largest convention being held in Florida gathers over 300,000 tourists each year. The event contributes a sizeable, whopping amount of around $25 million for the state's economy.
The Detroit Tigers have called Lakeland City their spring home since 1934.
