Limassol is a city in Cyprus. It is the second largest city in terms of geographical size. Located on Akrotiri Bay on the southern coast, its immense port serves as an important facility in maritime trade and in tourism.

Cyprus is often mentioned in Greek mythology; the goddess of love, Aphrodite, was said to have arisen from the sea foam near Paphos. Limassol too, has its own interesting tales to boast of. For instance, England's royalty, King Richard I, is said to have married Berengaria in Limassol, and allegedly honeymooned at the Kolossi Castle; its ruins could still be visited in the western part of the city.

On top of these fascinating tales however, local residents and tourists have several places to go to and varied activities to enjoy in Limassol, such as going golfing, racing go karts, cycling, and hiking in interesting and historic trails. The most awaited events for tourists and locals alike however, are the carnival and wine festivals. The Carnival Festival is a great time for masquerades while the Wine Festival every September gives everyone the privilege to sample Cyprus' best wines, free of charge.
