About Lincoln
The City of Lincoln is known as the second famous city of the U.S state of Nebraska. The city is considered as the country seat of Lancaster Country in 1859 and the home of the University of Nebraska. It is the capital of Nebraska with a total population of 225, 581 in the current census 2000. It started as the village of Lancaster which was established in the year 1856.

Omaha is the capital of Nebraska Territory since the creation of territory in 1859. Most of the population lived in the south of the Platte River. The Lancaster village was chosen due to the salt flat and marshes; however Omaha interest attempted to derail the action by having Lancaster renamed after President Abraham Lincoln's death. From that time on, people were sympathetic towards the confederate cause.

Lancaster was renamed Lincoln and became the state capital upon Nebraska's admission to the Union in March 1867. The city is recently regarded as the healthiest cities in the United States as of 2008.
