Mackinac Island covers 3.8 square miles in the land area situated to the U.S state of Michigan. It is primarily located in Lake Huron at the eastern end of the Straits of Mackinac between the states's upper and Lower Peninsulas.

This was led to the foundation of Fort Mackinac on the Island by the British Colony during the American Revolutionary War. It is known as the scene of two battles during the war in the year 1812.
