Mackinac Island covers 3.8 square miles in the land area situated to the U.S state of Michigan. It is primarily located in Lake Huron at the eastern end of the Straits of Mackinac between the states's upper and Lower Peninsulas.

The island was noted as the home to a Native American Settlement before the exploration of European that begun in the late 17th century. Amidst the commerce of the great lake, it still served as a strategic position. This was led to the foundation of Fort Mackinac on the Island by the British Colony during the American Revolutionary War. It is known as the scene of two battles during the war in the year 1812.

The Mackinac Island became famous in tourist attraction and summer activities in 19th century. The island is listed as a National Historic Landmark and well known for its numerous cultural events and wide variety of architectural styles.
