Makati is a city in the Philippines. It is a modern city and the main hub for financial, economic, commercial, and entertainment activities in the National Capital Region. This highly urbanized city started out from a swamp land by the River. Today, it is among the busiest business cities in the country.
The climate in Makati is comprised of two seasons - the wet and the dry. Points of interest in the city include The Peninsula Manila, Fort Bonifacio (a former military camp), Guadalupe Ruins, Santuario de Guadalupe, Libingan ng mga Bayani (Memorial for Heroes), and several museums, memorials, and statues.
Transportations in Makati include buses, taxis, automobiles, jeepneys (a modified jeep), trains, and ferry boats. Several shopping centers can be found in the city. Also, the cost of living in this city is quite high so that most of the residents are the country's wealthiest families. That is why the city has several gated communities and high-end residential subdivisions.
