Manama is the largest city and the capital city of Bahrain. It has emerged as the capital of the country after periods of domination from the Persian and Portuguese in its early history. Today, Manama is a modern capital whose economy is based around the industry of crude oil production.

Manama is neither fully Arabic nor Islamic and the city attracts a large number of foreign tourists and foreign influences. Alcohol is legal in Bahrain and there are a number of nightclubs and bars that operate on the city. This is an indication that while Bahrain is strongly Islamic, the country is still tolerant and open-minded with that of other beliefs and cultures. There are three soccer teams from Manama in the Bahraini Premiere League since soccer is a popular sport in the country.

The main attraction of Manama includes the twin towers of the Bahrain Financial Harbor where guests can visit in order to get a scenic view of the city's skyline. Manama is also the home of the Al Fateh Mosque which is one of the largest mosques in the world.
