About Marbella
Marbella is a city that sits on the Mediterranean coast in Andaluisa, Spain. In 2004, it was estimated that the population in Marbella was around 116,234 people. The city is located in the province of Malaga and is located close to Puerto Banus and both of them are considered integral parts of the beach resorts in Costa del Sol. Once for once being a playground for the rich and famous, Marbella has now diversified and has made its beaches available to most tourists with the helped of packaged tourism. The city is easily accessible from Malaga, where the closest airport is located. It is also accessible from Algeciras by bus.

In the 1940s, Marbella's residents amounted to only around 9000. it soon expanded after the city impressed Prince Max Egon zu Hohenlohe-Langerburg. The prince was influential in marketing Marbella as a tourist destination. He was also the one who opened the Marbella Club Hotel in 1954.

Popular sights in Marbella include the Arabian Wall, the upscale restaurant called 'Olivia Valere', the Bonsai Museum, the Museo del Grabado Espanol Contemporaneo, and the Encarnacion church. Notable residents for Marbella include actors Antonio Banderas and Sean Connery. Banderas is a constant visitor to Marbella and keeps a house there. Connery was a former resident in Marbella and is known to enjoy the local golfing scene.

The city is also known as a sporting destination. It is popular for the golf courses around it and has also played host to a WTA tennis tournament on Red Clay for the Andalucia Tennis Experience.
