Marco Island is located in Collier County in the United States state of Florida. The population of the city varies depending on the season. A 2007 estimates that there are around 15,791 permanent residents and inflates to 35,000 during the peak of the tourist season. Marco Island is the largest of the barrier islands that are located on the Gulf of Mexico.

The climate in the city is subtropical with the seasons ranging from wet to dry. Rainfall is mostly concentrated between the months of June and October. The city has a thriving business and service industry, although a huge part of its economic product comes from tourism profits.
